'Eyes' by Donna Louise Ellice

Reflected in the eyes of a liberator
screaming, fearful, crying, wailing.
As statues fall--and kingdoms crumble
and joyous crowds of jubilee
go marching, marching, by.
I can't find my bible--or the wailing minaret
There's ducktape on the windows
and white powder in my mail
Sadness at dawn before the day
planes flew into a building
bombs blew Bali away
Reflected in the eyes of a liberator
a future of insanity insanity--insanity
all the tinker, tailor, soldiers
marching, marching by.
